Saturday run, Monday lunch

Saturday morning’s run went ok. We ran about 6.7 miles in 1 hour and 35 minutes I think. Not my best run time and we miss judged the halfway point. I definitely need to start running during the week again. Me knee was starting to ache right at the end so we walked the last quarter of a mile.

On Sunday I made a yummy chicken salad for lunch with left overs for Monday’s lunch. It was so yummy. I really love chicken, apples, and green grapes. Who knew fruit went so well with chicken. It was also a great paleo lunch option.

Here is what was in my salad
-chicken
-green grapes
-honey crisp apple
-mayo
-hardboiled eggs
-dash of garlic salt and onion powder
I think next time I might try adding some diced onion to it. What variations do you try?

7 miles tomorrow

Tomorrow I get back to running. I think it’s been about a month and I really need to start running again and keep up with it. I’m going to be running 7 miles I think. I really hope I do ok seeing its been so long. That’s about it for tonight. I just want to try and keep up with posting something every day if I can. More to come tomorrow.

Day 2 squat update

Day 2 of the squat challenge. I did my 55 squats this evening. I definitely felt it in my thighs as I was getting to the end. I hope my legs feel a tad better tomorrow. I woke up with a sore heel muscle. I think my weight was unbalanced yesterday when I was doing my squats. It got better throughout the day as I moved around.

I didn’t run today or try out the tabata workout yet so it’s on my todo list tomorrow morning. I have just been so busy and had a sick husband this week. Hopefully I get out to do a 5k run tomorrow morning.

Ok so I started today

Ok so I forgot to start my squats yesterday. Really I kept thing I should do them while in the middle of something and then I would forget them by the time I was done. It was odd. However I didn’t forget to do them today.
Day 1 – 50 Squats
I did them all while waiting for my bacon to cook. Not bad today. I know I won’t be able to continue to do them at that time as the amount builds up but it was a good start. Tomorrow I add 5 more.

I got a new hat and water bottle for running today. I’m excited to try them out tomorrow. I’m hoping they will help with morning runs. By the time I’m doing the last half mile I am so hot in the sun. I was so pleased with the service at Rogue Running. They were fantastic. They were really nice and told me if my shoes are comfortable there is no need to buy new ones yet and go ahead and get the other items I wanted. They may not have sold me $100 shoes today but I will go back to them when my $20 Payless shoes finally give out. Plus they had some nice shirts I might have to try out. Just because of the great customer service I will be buying my next pair of running shoes from them. Thanks guys!

I’m going to try baking some decorative cupcakes for a ghostbusters fundraiser on Saturday. Ill take some pics to post and show you all how I do.

Morning run

I went for a run in the morning today and it was much better. It was warm still however the sun was not shining due to a storm coming through. It did make it a bit humid though. I decided to run my route the opposite direction. That helped break things up and the hills felt easier that direction. I did another 3.29 miles in 37 mins. I’m thinking about going to the Y soon to run because its getting so hot, even early in the morning now.

That’s it for Thursday. It was a busy work day.

Lunch break run

I decided to take a short nap this morning after my family got out the door for work and daycare. I should have gone on a run before getting to work. Instead I decided to run at lunch. My lunch hour is from 1pm-2pm CST. I had a good run but boy was it hot out! That was my first and last lunch run. It’s just getting to hot in Texas to run in the afternoon. I ran 3.29 miles in 40 mins. I would like to run at least a 5k every time I run. I think I can do it if I run first thing in the morning. It would be great to try and get my time down to 30 mins for a 5k. I might also add a mile or 2 by going farther down the path on the weekends. Next run is on Thursday.

10k complete!

It’s been a while since I last posted. It’s been a busy couple of months. On April 28th I ran my first even 10k! I was even sick and didn’t run the 2 weeks before. I was so excited on race day. I was able to jog the whole way keeping a steady pace. I finished the race in an hour and 18 minutes! Can you believe it. I was hoping to at least finish in 1:40 mins. I even had enough energy to step up my pace at the home stretch.

I haven’t been running since then. My legs were killing me on Monday and Tuesday after the race. I plan to start back up with a jog tomorrow. I’m excited to get back into the swing of things. I am even going to look for another race to join. It would be great to try to run a 10k every other week to help me improve my time.

I guess I can consider myself a runner now. If you want to start running check out the run keeper app and the gym pact app for iPhone. I have been using both to keep up my running. They are very helpful. I also have another app that helps you go form couch to 5k basically. It’s called get running. I highly recommend it. That reminds me I need to check in with a friend that was going to try it out and see how his running is going.

Hopefully I’ll have a more consistent post flow starting today. I would love to get back into the swing of blogging. Until tomorrow enjoy your run!
